Keji Muramoto PCCS Student of the Month.jpg

Pacific Coast Charter School would like to congratulate Keiji Muramoto as our “Student of the Year”.  He has been a PCCS student for five years.  Keiji will graduate at the top of his class next year and no doubt, he will go on to do many great things.

Keiji goes above and beyond expectations; he is a true artist as well as academically amazing!  Keiji is a self-directed learner; he competes with himself and wants his work to always be better than his last assignment.

Keiji is a well-known person at Pacific Coast Charter School. He is always positive, helpful, and seems to bring a ray of sunshine wherever he is.  He is sweet, polite, articulate, caring, full of integrity, responsible, intelligent, and a friend to all.

Keiji has consistently shown high standards and a high quality of work in all that he does.  He asks questions when he has them, and is always willing to help other students that may have questions too.

While a student in middle school, Keiji went above and beyond what was expected of him.  Keiji at the time was very concerned and interested in the African-American experience, especially as portrayed in literature.  He successfully read authors such as Harper Lee, Richard Wright, and Dick Gregory, writing insightful and astute essays in response, demonstrating his command over writing at a level far above his grade at the time.  As a student now of US History, Keiji goes above and beyond the call of duty, delving deep into the subject matters at hand, demonstrating empathy and interest in the many difficult concepts covered as part of the curriculum.

Not only is Keiji one of the top students at Pacific Coast, he is an excellent dancer.  He performs regularly with one of the local dance companies.  You should see him perform his tap dance routine to Singing in the Rain, it is quite an experience.  Everyone at Pacific Coast Charter School is extremely proud of Keiji Muramoto.

Congratulations PCCS 8th grader JESSICA LEMKE

For her 8th grade project here at PCCS, Jessica wrote a book and published it on Amazon for Kindle (and it will be published soon for other eReaders, too). She wanted to be a published author by the time she started high school, and she did it! She even hired an artist to do the book cover. Her book is an anthology of two stories interwoven with some poems from some of her characters perspectives and it is about 84 pages long. Not bad for a 13 year old. She's going to publish some hard copies this summer, if all works out.

Jessica's mom Valerie, is a key player here at PCCS (president of our governing council, among many other things.  She would like to thank PCCS for being such a great team who has always supported them with this kind self-directed learning and helping Jessica to follow her passions now.  She says it really takes a village, and they appreciate ALL of the support PCCS has given them over the years!

Here is the link on Amazon to her book if you want to see the cover art, and there's even a free preview. And yes, she's already working on the next book in the series of these "threaded tales".  If you go to Amazon and do a search of her name, the book comes up. She's very excited because it's real. :)

Jessica was also awarded the PAULA YAMASHITA WRITING AWARD.  Keep up the good work Jessica!

The office will be closed June 17 -Aug 9.  We will return to the office Aug 10, 2015.  The first day of school is 8/13/15.  ENJOY YOUR SUMMER!
